ELSEWHERE — The Love That Lives Beyond

Elsewhere, she dreams of being able to consume the love she feels in her heart and soul, every minute of her day and every hour of her night.

But some lives are not meant to be lived beside the one we believe is our soulmate.

Sometimes, that person is far away, living a life of his own.

And so we remain where we are.

We carry on. We honor commitments. We listen to the voices that taught us what is right and wrong, what should be chosen, what should be sacrificed, and what a good life is supposed to look like.

We fight with ourselves because we want to do the right thing.

Yet somewhere in the quiet, another question begins to surface: 

- What if the right thing is not always the true thing?

- What if a love can be real even when it cannot be lived?

- What if someone can belong to your soul without belonging to your life?

She turns away because there is no simple answer.

Her love exists elsewhere, in another place, another life, perhaps even another possibility. And still, she carries it with her.

Not as regret.

Not as betrayal. But as something that awakened a part of her she can never again pretend does not exist.

Perhaps that is the hardest kind of love: To feel someone everywhere, while choosing to love them from elsewhere.
